JAMES PERSE MELROSE
James Perse Melrose was the debut James Perse store, designed by Jeff Allsbrook of Standard Architects. Having previously worked on James Perse’s house in the Bird Streets with Jeff Allsbrook, Bonura Building was hired again to build this retail store. The building was an ugly husk of a building before it went under remodel, emerging the beautiful store pictured here.
Principal CJ Bonura considers Jeff Allsbrook one of the most outstanding architects to work with. With his attention for detail and well prepared drawing packages, manifesting the vision would prove easier than most.
The design was well executed in numerous ways. The all stucco building was refinished, was given wood elements and large fleetwood doors on the inside. The floor was redone with a concrete topping slab and the ceiling was opened up as to expose the roof. Bonura Building would go on to remodel James Perse’s offices and build four more of his stores.
