TANAGER WAY
This design-build project executed by Bonura Building back in 2005 was an existing 1972 French Normandy style building residence. Everything was torn down to the subfloor but retained the existing foundation and floor system. The facade, originally created by interior designer Mark Schomisch, was enhanced by Bonura Building using one of the open box elements that penetrated the wall-like facade. The entry piece was created as another exterior vestibule and the roof tongue extended as a soffit to an exterior eve. The floating steps were suspended over a water feature that added a bit of serenity to the entry sequence. Other design features were monolith like structural pieces that doubled as a structural wall and then also added light to the interior spaces. An open box themed fireplace with gold leaf textured above and a see through fireplace below, created a centerpiece for the living room below and a backdrop for sculptures. The Tanager Way project remains one of Bonura Building’s favorite accomplishments to this day.
